Anticipatory Grief

There comes a time when a person’s condition may stabilize and or even improve, while they are on hospice care.  The family may be so relieved, but be aware of significant stress and not know why they feel sad or worried.

More than likely, they are experiencing anticipatory grief. The various emotions that come when you know you are going to expect something sad, hard, humbling and unstoppable.

Anticipating death over and over, knowing it has just been postponed can be overwhelming. How does one enjoy the beautiful interaction now?  Dreading that sorrowful place of watching someone die.

Hope I can relieve some of those stressors!
