“Comfort Medications”

Ever heard this term?  This is a common term during end-of-life care.  These are medications to bring discomfort into comfort.  They are not expected to cure, they are expected to bring a balance or manage an uncomfortable symptom.

Some of the names of “comfort mediations” include oxygen, atropine, ativan, morphine, dilaudid, valium, scopalamine, and many many more.  Did you have a reaction inside when you read some of these name?  Most people do!

What can you do when a physician or nurse tell you it is time to utilize these medications?

Keep in mind these medications can make you feel better, prevent additional problems and potentially improve your quality of life.
